
Professor David Bailey
PhD, FeRSA, FAcSS, FHEA
David Bailey is Professor of Business Economics at the Birmingham Business School, and a Senior Fellow of the ESRC's UK in a Changing Europe programme, exploring the impacts of Brexit on UK automotive and manufacturing.
He has written extensively on industrial and regional policy, especially in relation to manufacturing and the auto industry. He has been involved in a number of major projects including the Horizon RISE project MAKERS where he led the Work Package on Industrial Policy.
He is Editor-in-Chief of the Academy of Social Science's flagship journal Contemporary Social Science and an editor of the leading journal Regional Studies.David is a regular media commenter and newspaper columnist.

Professor John Clancy
John Clancy is a visiting professor at Birmingham City University Business School. He was also a visiting lecturer in new media technology in business at The Birmingham Business School at the University of Birmingham from 2008-2011.
He is the former Leader of Birmingham City Council (2015-2017), the largest local authority in Europe, based in tin he U.K.'s second biggest city. He oversaw an annual revenue budget of over £3 billion, and over £6 billion in assets. He was a Labour councillor for Hodge Hill ward from 2002 initially and then Quinton ward until 2020.
He is an expert on public sector pension funds and hyper-local data and researches these areas in particular at Birmingham City University. John has written extensively on public sector pensions and is regularly quoted in the U.K. national media on the subject.
Professor Clancy is a qualified Solicitor of The Supreme Court, though does not now practise. He practised in Birmingham, specialising in Venture Capital law.
